Boston, United States Nashville Public Radio Full time

Job Description You’ll be responsible for building a steady drumbeat of timely, useful posts that make Cambridge & Somerville coverage feel alive, immediate, and indispensable. This role is not about being a personal influencer; it’s about creating a strong voice that delivers value to the community and builds loyalty to Globe Media products. Responsibilities Coverage & Content Provide fast, practical updates: MBTA delays, detours, weather impacts, street closures, outages, parking bans. Share verified “what’s known now” posts during public-safety events (fires, police activity, roadblocks). Surface civic and community signals: school notices, city service changes, construction milestones, campus events. Curate coverage from The Globe, Boston.com, and Boston Magazine: restaurants, patios, festivals, presented through our unique lens. Capture and publish short photos/videos to bring immediacy and authenticity to posts. Curate content from disparate sources across the region. Distribution & Integration Publish across Instagram, TikTok, Threads, newsletters, and more while maintaining a live feed of posts piped directly into Globe.com’s Cambridge & Somerville section. Repurpose timely posts into newsletter blurbs to enhance the newsletters reading experience. Work with the Globe newsroom news product leaders, audience and multimedia teams, and product teams to test live integrations into our sites. Leadership & Collaboration Collaborate with platforms, audience, and multimedia teams to experiment with new formats, strategies, and tactics. Collaborate broadly across teams — partner with editors and the audience team to ensure accuracy and resonance, with audience and SEO to refine and optimize taxonomy and landing pages, and with platforms and audience to maximize reach and impact. Qualifications 2-5 years in journalism, digital media, or creator-driven roles. Strong news judgment, an understanding of journalistic ethics and norms, and ability to publish quickly, accurately. Excellent short-form writing, concise, clear, and engaging. Familiarity with scanner feeds, digital news gathering skills, civic data, and real-time reporting tools. Proficiency in social storytelling, SEO, and newsletters. Photo/video capture and editing skills.Experience mentoring interns/co-ops a plus. Local knowledge of Cambridge & Somerville is a must A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment Success Metrics Audience Growth: newsletter sign-ups, social reach, repeat visitation. Engagement: post interaction rates, CTR into Globe.com/Boston.com, time spent with content. Conversions: new digital subscriptions attributable to the C&S funnel. Utility: speed and accuracy of updates (MBTA, disruptions, civic signals). Resonance: recognition that “if something’s happening in Cambridge or Somerville, this is where I’ll find it first.” Job Details The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines.
