Payroll Coordinator

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of multistate payroll, including payroll tax reporting and payments. The Payroll Coordinator will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Integrity, attention to detail and ability to prioritize are essential to success in this position.
Pay Range: $24.00- $28.00/hour
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Using ADP WFN software will assist with or assume tasks required for scheduled “start-to-finish” payroll: collection and audit of non-exempt timecards, approval and reporting of paid-time off benefits for all employees, voluntary deductions including Health & Welfare and retirement plans, wage attachments (IWO’s, garnishments, levies, etc.), preview payroll audit, check distribution, and post-payroll reporting.
- Process manual checks as requested for pay adjustments, employment events, discretionary bonuses, etc.; may process “off-cycle” payrolls for monthly/quarterly/annual bonus and commission payments
- Maintain data and provide accurate information for payroll and tax-related issues
- Interface, reconcile, and process payroll information received from outside sources, and HR Business Partners
- Research payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.
- Report to the Payroll Manager regarding daily activities and issues
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 1-3 years prior payroll processing experience in a fast-paced environment; multi-location and multi-state experience preferred
- Must have and maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and tax laws, FLSA, and other applicable regulations governing payroll
- Proficient with payroll software – ADP experience preferred.
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- An analytical mind with good math skills with the ability to work through problems strategically
- Ability to comprehend and document business processes and workflows
- Must be able to receive and understand instructions, and carry out those instructions, and effectively communicate those instructions to other team members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
- Present self in a professional manner with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
- Accurate and detail oriented with a high level of integrity, and an ownership philosophy to consistently meet and exceed the expectations of our employees and management
- Independent, self-starter able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Associate degree preferred
TRAVEL:
Minimal travel required. Some travel may be expected for training or meetings.
