**General Summary of Duties :**

The Assistant Director of Food & Beverage is responsible for assisting the Director of Food & Beverage in leading the JW Marriott Nashvilles food and beverage operation including; Banquets, Stompin Grounds three-meal restaurant, Stompin Grounds grab and go market, In Room Dining, and Cabana Club Pool Bar.

The Assistant Director of Food & Beverage will oversee the development and implementation of departmental strategies and ensure implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives. The position ensures the food and beverage operation meets the brands target customer needs, ensures Internal Guest satisfaction, focuses on growing revenues and maximizes the financial performance of the Food & Beverage department.

Examples of Duties (include but are not limited to the following) :

**Developing and Executing Food and Beverage Strategy and Goals**

* Observe food and beverage outlet operations and take needed action to ensure all standards are being met

* Monitor and assess service and satisfaction trends, evaluate and address issues and make improvements accordingly

* Work with direct reports to develop and implement promotions, food and wine pairings, menu items and presentations

* Develop a food and beverage operating strategy that is aligned with the hotels business strategy and lead the execution

**Leading Food and Beverage Teams**

* Ensure that regular, on-going communication occurs in all areas of food and beverage (e.g., daily rehearsals, staff meetings, culinary team)

* Work with restaurant and bar leadership to review business in house and potential business in surrounding area and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts

* Review staffing levels to ensure that guest service and operational needs are met

* Set expectations, provide feedback based on observation of service behaviors, and hold food and beverage leadership accountable for demonstrating desired service behaviors

* Communicate critical information gained from pre- and post-convention meetings to areas of responsibility

**Maximizing Food and Beverage Revenue**

* Review financial reports and statements to determine how Food and Beverage is performing against budget

* Ensure cash control and liquor control policies are in place in food & beverage areas and followed by all related Internal Guests

* Encourage calculated risk-taking to generate incremental revenue and deliver Savvy Service

**Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service**

* Create an atmosphere in all food and beverage areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations

* Review comment cards, guest satisfaction results and other data to identify areas of improvement

* Strive to improve service performance

**Perform additional duties and projects as assigned**

Position Requirements :

* Ability to speak, read, write and understand English

* Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment

* Thorough knowledge of food and beverage operations including food, beverage, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction

* Minimum of 5 years experience managing food & beverage operations required

* Prior management experience at a high volume, luxury hotel is preferred
