Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Specialist to join our dynamic team in Norfolk, VA. This role focuses on the preparation and filing of federal payroll tax forms, specifically Forms 940 and 941. The position is initially a six-month contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and file federal payroll tax forms, including Forms 940 and 941, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal regulations.
Reconcile payroll tax reports to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
Research and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to payroll tax filings.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal payroll tax laws and regulations.
Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and documentation for tax filings.
Ensure timely submission of all required tax forms and payments.
Provide support and guidance to clients on payroll tax-related matters.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll tax preparation, specifically Forms 940 and 941.
Strong understanding of federal payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in using payroll software and tax filing systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with a major payroll service provider.
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CPP) is a plus.
