Senior Software Engineer

Database Administration: Manage the shared MySQL and Postgres database clusters such as keeping the database engine up to date, monitoring the performance of databases and optimize them where possible. Work with development teams to troubleshoot database issues and provide support and fix.Mentor and consult: Provide tooling, guidance, and consultation to engineering teams while mentoring junior engineers to meet company standards and grow their technical expertise. Work with teams across America and Europe in different time zones.**What we are looking for...**8+ years of relevant experience in Software Engineering and Cloud Platform development roles. This includes 4+ years of DBA experience, preferably in cloud environment data storage solution. You should have experience with distributed and cloud-based architecture patterns and best practices. Experience with implementation of internal delivery platforms is a plus. Proven success in delivering new features to production is essential.Expertise in database (AWS Aurora MySQL and Postgres) administration. Ability to troubleshoot database issues independently and work together with the development teams on remediations and prevention. Proficiency in cloud-based databases maintenance, upgrades, backup strategies, monitoring, and optimization of performance, resiliency and security.Proficiency in AWS cloud infrastructure with a focus on serverless and containerized solutions and their orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS). Expertise in TypeScript or any static-typing programming languages is required. Experience with Python programming is highly desirable. You should have a solid understanding of Cloudformation/CDK and Terraform Infrastructure as Code frameworks.Experience with building infrastructure automation and seamlessly integrating these solutions into CI/CD pipelines and the software development lifecycle. A team player with strong interpersonal skills who thrives in globally distributed environments. You bring empathy and adaptability to collaborative problem-solving. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail are essential. You are willing to jump on a production incident call and work with developers for a resolution.Someone with exceptional verbal and written communication skills who can create clear, concise, and well-organized documentation. You should be able to create supporting diagrams to explain complex topics with transparency and clarity.
