Cal Poly Pomona is a polytechnic university within the CSU system and emphasizes an integrative learn-by-doing approach and the Teacher Scholar Model. Position description Teaching: Tenure-track faculty position providing instruction in the Animal & Veterinary Sciences Department for undergraduate courses focusing on the Pre-Veterinary Science/Animal Science program and, as needed, the Animal Health Science program if the candidate possesses the required expertise. The average teaching load is 12 weighted teaching units (WTUs) per semester. Assigned time may be used toward pedagogy and research/scholarly activities for the first two years (reduced to 9 WTUs per semester). Research/Scholarship: Faculty are expected to seek grant funding to secure assigned time for research/scholarship activities and to conduct research/scholarly activities in their area of expertise with undergraduate and graduate students, as appropriate. Service: Committee service to the department, college, and university is expected. Activities include curriculum development, student advising, program assessment and development, and student recruitment and retention of underrepresented minorities. Compensation: Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits are competitive with similar regional institutions. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and excellence in the academic community through research, teaching and/or service. Preferred/Desired Qualifications Post-doctoral experience and/or prior university teaching. Specialization in ruminant, swine, and/or poultry nutrition preferred. Ability to assist with instruction and management of other programs in the department (equine, animal health science, and graduate program). Record of scholarly activities (peer-reviewed publications, grants, presentations). Experience in animal industries and professional organizations.
