Director, Bassett Research Institute Physician or PhD The Bassett Research Institute (BRI) at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY is seeking applicants to fill the position of Research Scientist and Director of the BRI. BRI's research scientists are involved in a range of projects to advance knowledge in the fields of rural health and clinical medicine. The BRI also supports Bassett clinicians, residents and medical students in academic, intellectual and clinical research endeavors. Support day-to-day and long-term operations of the BRI, leading research staff within the four centers: Center for Rural Community Health, Center for Clinical Research, Center for Biostatistics, and Center for the Evaluation of Rural Interventions. Represent and support research interests within Bassett Healthcare Network, including determining priorities in consultation with BRI faculty and the Chief Clinical & Academic Officer. Work closely with the Administrative Director and Office of Sponsored Programs to assure fiscal integrity of the BRI. Appropriate budgeting and planning for personnel, equipment and space activities for research activities. Support and encourage Bassett scientists in their efforts to compete for external funding. Seek opportunities to collaborate with scientists at Columbia, Cornell, and other academic institutions. Participate in Bassett's Executive Management Team, representing Bassett's research community. Job Requirements Medical degree (MD) or PhD, with a minimum of 10 years of independent research experience as Principal Investigator in clinical, mental health and/or public health research, with both historical and current federal or private funding. Experience in addressing rural health disparities, rural health care services, and social determinants of health. Demonstrated ability to build effective collaborations and mentor junior colleagues, with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software (including Excel); experience with SAS, GIS software and mapping techniques desirable. Salary: $200,000 - $350,000 plus performance-based compensation. Salary Range: $200,000 - $350,000 plus performance-based compensation.
