Dean of Instruction (ELA/ Humanities) - YES Prep Hobby Secondary Join the YES Prep team to serve in the role of Dean of Instruction for Education, Language Arts and Humanities at the Hobby Secondary campus. This leadership position reports to the Director of Academics and is an 11‑month role beginning the 25‑26 school year. Job Description We work for a mission that impacts the life trajectory of students and their families. In this role you will lead instruction in core subject areas, support teachers, monitor student achievement, and plan professional development activities. The position is salaried, starting at $70,500 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities Manage and develop a cohort of teachers. With the Principal and/or Director of Academics, set and uphold clear expectations and standards for excellent teaching in all content areas. Ensure that students receive outstanding instruction in all classrooms by observing and evaluating a cohort of teachers; provide at least one classroom observation and a one‑to‑one coaching check‑in every few weeks. Monitor and manage the progress toward increased student achievement and campus goals for the cohort of teachers; coach teachers to use assessment data to improve instruction. Assist in planning and delivering professional learning opportunities during beginning‑of‑year in‑service days and on selective professional development days throughout the school year. Complete a one‑year credentialing track to become a YES Prep Teacher Evaluator. Participate in strategic district‑led professional development for instructional leaders. Complete additional duties as assigned. Qualifications – MUST HAVES Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year educational institution. At least 3 years of exemplary teaching. A valid Texas teaching certificate or equivalent. Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools. Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to work urgently in a fast‑paced and results‑oriented environment. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once. Demonstrated ability to work on a team. A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional. Qualifications – NICE TO HAVES Experience in coaching or leading adults. Benefits & Compensation Salary commensurate with experience; starting at $70,500 annually.
