Job Overview:

We are looking for warm, out-going, team-oriented venue managers to lead the hospitality culture of The Rink at Rockefeller Center. As a valuable leader of the team, you are the face of the skating rink and will be responsible for creating uniquely unforgettable experiences for our guests. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to quickly learn and communicate information pertaining to The Rink as well as other aspects of Rockefeller Center.

Working hours will include daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Availability on weekends and holidays is required. Fluent English is required and the ability to speak multiple languages is a plus. Applicants must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist, and lift throughout an entire shift. Due to the nature of this role and its responsibilities, the manager must report to the on-site work location during scheduled work hours. Position Summary:

The Venue Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Rink at Rockefeller Center. This includes public operation, private events, and broadcasting events. They will lead a team consisting of hospitality personnel, specialized ice-skating personnel, ice technicians, and others. They will be responsible for ensuring The Rink is a fun and safe place to work, skate, and play. This is a full-time seasonal position reporting to the Operations Manager(s), with opportunities to move into a permanent role at Rockefeller Center at the conclusion of the season. The successful candidate should bring a hospitality mindset, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail to their role.

Overall, this position continuously offers the highest level of service to all client and SPS employees while maintaining a professional image of the company by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service.

Responsibilities:
- Inform and enforce all health & safety guidelines
- Provide assistance with the installation and strike of the ice rink and ancillary components
- Provide assistance with staff onboarding and training
- Deliver a seamless guest experience by ensuring all staff are supported and held accountable to providing exceptional customer service
- Mitigate or escalate facility issues, and work collaboratively with technical teams to find timely solutions
- Mitigate guest issues by providing empathetic and proportional responses to negative experiences
- Accurately complete all daily operational reporting in a timely manner, such as end-of-day reports, incident reports, and facility reports
- Work with the Operations Manager(s) and staffing agency to coach and motivate staff
- Provide customer service and maintenance support during weather events

Requirements:
- Exceptional leadership skills. Experience leading seasonal teams is a plus.
- At least 2 years of experience in hospitality, entertainment, or event operations management. Experience with outdoor Ice-skating events is a plus.
- Excellent organization skills, with the ability to manage both customer-facing and internal communication.
- An aptitude for guest service, always seeking for opportunities to provide an "above-and-beyond" experience, and able to manage complicated situations such as guest complaints and inclement weather.
- Advanced abilities in all standard Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams), and ability to learn all systems applications required for the role.
- Willingness to work long hours during the holiday season and other peak times, or during special events, with a hands-on approach to daily operations. This is not a typical 9-5 setting. After-hours and weekend requirements are expected regularly.
- Entrepreneurial aptitude, always striving to develop, innovate, and improve on every aspect of the operation.
- Ability to understand and communicate in English, verbally and in writing
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Role may require sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, stooping, pushing, pulling and carrying
- A significant portion of the day requires standing and walking
- A significant portion of the shift will take place outside (Insulated winter jacket & vest provided)
- Ideally open availability including weekends, early mornings, late nights, and holidays
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
- Must be able to follow uniform and other grooming guidelines
- Must be able to follow all other policies implemented by SPS/The Rink

Physical Demands:
  • Fine and/or gross motor skills, including the ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages on a standard wheeled cart with a load capacity of 60 lbs.
  • Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, and/or sit for an extended period of time.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating office machinery (phone, copy machines, binding equipment, etc.).
  • Physically able to talk on the phone and input data simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift or move 40 lbs. or greater frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and ability to match or may include detection of differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
Travel: Some local travel is required for this position. Approximately up to 25%.

$25-$30 USD
