The Position:

The School Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of the School-Based Counseling Program in South, Mid, or North Santa Barbara County. The duties include responsibility for staff, program and budget development, administration, implementation, and evaluation.

The School Services Supervisor III is a licensed clinical professional. The School Services Supervisor IV is a licensed clinical professional who is two years post-licensure and can provide clinical supervision. The School Services Supervisor V is two years post-licensure, can provide clinical supervision, and supervises other School Services Supervisors.

The School Services Supervisor will report to the School Services Program Manager in South County, the School Services Supervisor and/or the School Services Program Director in Lompoc, and the Clinical Director in Santa Maria.

FSA strives to be a trauma-informed and resilience-oriented organization. Because working with those impacted by trauma can affect staff in various ways, FSA actively identifies and employs methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care for both themselves and others.

Specific Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates new staff.
  2. Provides administrative supervision and ongoing training to clinical staff to support staff development.
  3. Provides clinical supervision (Supervisor IV and V).
  4. Supports counselors in managing their caseload and caseload expectations.
  5. Ensures quality of mental health service delivery and documentation through regular review of client files and documentation.
  6. Organizes and facilitates regular and ongoing staff meetings and trainings.
  7. Participates in weekly individual meetings with appropriate Supervisor/Manager/Director.
  8. Participates and collaborates with other School-Based Program staff to ensure alignment in practices and standards.
  9. Monitors Program budgets and productivity.
  10. Evaluates the effectiveness of the School-Based Counseling Program and the impact on both the schools and the community by regularly and continuously using collected data and information to make needed improvements, as appropriate.
  11. Identifies unmet needs to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager/Director; develops and implements needs as appropriate.
  12. Represents and advocates for School-Based Counseling Services with collaborative agencies, school district staff, school administration, other service providers, and potential funding sources.
  13. Interfaces with funding and regulator entities.
  14. Interfaces with other Family Service Agency programs; in particular, those serving the same or similar populations.
  15. Ensures staff comply with all California's Board of Behavioral Sciences regulations and standards.
  16. Reviews statistical reports to ensure accuracy.
  17. Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Position Requirements

Employment Standards:
  1. Licensed MFT, LCSW, or Psychologist is required.
  2. Supervisor IV and V: Minimum of two years as a licensed clinician and must have completed a BBS approved supervision course within the last 2 years.
  3. Experience required with program management and staff supervision, as well as knowledge of current clinical practices regarding services to children, youth and families.
  4. Demonstrates problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  5. Two years working as a School-Based Counselor is preferred.
  6. Valid automobile insurance and a valid California Driver's License are required; reliable transportation is necessary to travel throughout Santa Barbara County.
