Base pay range: $110,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr Company Overview Garland Heating and Air Conditioning is a family owned and operated business in the DFW Area, providing Mechanical/Residential/Commercial HVAC services for nearly 73 years Position Summary We are seeking a highly experienced and results‑driven Head of Operations to lead and manage our HVAC contracting operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of field experience in HVAC, including roles such as Lead Superintendent, Foreman and Project Manager. This role demands a strong understanding of HVAC systems in complex environments like industrial and commercial applications (e.g., wastewater treatment plants), robust leadership capabilities, and mastery in reading plans and specifications under Division 23. The candidate should also be proficient with computer systems and project management software to streamline operational workflows. Responsibilities Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations of HVAC projects, ensuring high‑quality execution and adherence to timelines; develop and implement operational strategies to optimize efficiency and profitability. Technical Expertise: Comprehend Specifications and Plans per Division 23 and ensure equipment and processes align; serve as subject‑matter expert in HVAC systems (design, installation, troubleshooting); stay updated on industry advancements; collaborate with Engineering on submittal review. Team Management: Supervise and mentor superintendents, technicians, and sheet‑metal teams; conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and maintain certifications in safety standards. Project Management: Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and other contractors to ensure project specifications are met; monitor budgets and ensure cost‑effectiveness without compromising quality; ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. Technology and Reporting: Utilize project management software for planning, reporting, and tracking metrics; prepare detailed reports on progress, budgets, and team performance for executive review. Qualifications Minimum of 15 years of field experience in HVAC, including roles as Superintendent, Project Manager, and HVAC Technician. Extensive experience with HVAC systems in industrial applications (chillers, chilled‑water piping, large‑scale industrial solutions in water and wastewater environments) preferred. Minimum 50‑hour work week expected, with higher hours during peak periods. Up to 50% travel required within the State of Texas. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and HVAC‑specific software. Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to manage cross‑functional teams. Formal degree in Construction Management or Engineering highly preferred. Relevant certifications such as NATE, TACLA, OSHA safety standards preferred. Preferred Skills Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑million‑dollar projects from start to finish. Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for operational efficiency. Familiarity with Texas‑specific building codes and regulations. Common‑sense approach with ability to foresee a project from bidding to completion.
