Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Server Technician to join our product development lab team in Plano, TX. The ideal candidate will be proficient in server assembly, operation, software installation, and hardware debug/repair. Networking experience, particularly with switches, SDN, and VLANs, is highly valued. This role involves responsibilities such as racking, stacking, and maintaining servers, as well as installing various components for both rack and bench systems. Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in supporting offsite resources by performing system resets, part replacements, and managing server usage scheduling



Responsibilities:

· Perform server assembly, operation, and maintenance tasks.

· Conduct software installations and hardware debug/repair as needed.

· Utilize networking expertise to configure switches, SDN, and VLANs.

· Rack, stack, and maintain servers in accordance with company standards.

· Install and replace server components, including CPUs, memory, storage, and NICs.

· Facilitate offsite resource support by resetting systems and managing server usage scheduling.



Experience:

· 2-5 years of experience in the high-tech industry, with prior experience in server assembly, software installation, server operation, and debug.



Skills:

· Proficiency in hardware installation, including CPUs, memory, peripherals, and storage media.

· Basic proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems.

· Strong communication skills for relaying observations to remote engineers and seeking clarification when necessary.

· Willingness to learn and adapt to new line-of-business applications.

· Attention to detail, ensuring accurate execution of tasks and meticulous record-keeping.

· Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

· Physical capability to lift 50lbs and access confined spaces under raised floors.



Education:

· No specific education level required, but relevant certifications or technical training are advantageous.



Bonus Points:

· Experience in automated testing.

· Prior experience working in a datacenter.

· Ability to cross-train in test planning and evaluation.
