Job Title: Server Technician

Location: 4965 Preston Park Blvd, Suite 160, Plano, TX, 75093, USA

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Server Technician with experience in server assembly, operation, software installation, and hardware debug/repair. The ideal candidate will have networking experience, including switches, SDN, VLANs, and be comfortable with racking, stacking, and maintaining servers. This role involves installing parts, resetting systems, swapping out parts, and providing scheduling for server usage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, operate, and maintain servers, including racking, stacking, and bench systems.
  • Install and remove CPUs, memory, peripherals, and storage media (e.g., SSDs, NVMe).
  • Install operating systems (Linux and Windows) from ISO images, set IP addresses, and manage user accounts.
  • Perform server and network configuration, including switches, SDN, VLANs.
  • Debug and repair hardware issues.
  • Communicate observations and tasks clearly with remote engineers and ask clarifying questions as needed.
  • Maintain detailed logs of part installations and locations.
  • Support offsite resources by resetting systems and swapping out parts.
  • Learn and utilize specific AMD line-of-business applications for technical tasks.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently with minimal oversight.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity and proficiency with hardware installation, including CPUs, memory, peripherals, and storage media.
  • Basic proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new applications and tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures.
  • Self-starter with high motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs and flexibility to work under raised floors.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in the high-tech industry, particularly in server assembly, software installation, server operation, and hardware debug.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Networking experience, including switches, SDN, and VLANs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Friendly, helpful attitude with a willingness to assist team members and remote engineers.
