Job Summary Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS) is seeking to fill an opening for the Associate Director of Training. The Associate Director of Training works within a multi-disciplinary staff and reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS). This position will oversee all aspects of the training program, from trainee recruitment to completion of program. The Associate Director of Training provides oversight of trainee supervisors and serves as a member of the department’s administrative leadership team. The Associate Director of Training provides goal‑directed clinical service to RIT students, consults with families and RIT community members, provides educational and outreach programming, and supports the training of graduate trainees in mental health fields. The Associate Director additionally provides administrative and clinical supervision to CaPS staff. The successful Associate Director of Training values a multifaceted approach to supporting student well‑being involving strongly linked clinical and training efforts, data‑driven organizational management, consultation with the campus community, and mental health prevention/early intervention. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Job Responsibilities Direct Service Provide individual and group therapy services to undergraduate and graduate student population. Conduct needs assessments, intake evaluations, treatment follow‑up, and appropriate referrals. Provide urgent care and crisis intervention. Develop and deliver mental health outreach and educational programming to campus partners. Occasional programming and special event needs will be delivered in the evenings and on weekends. Certain recurring university events, such as Student Orientation, require full staff participation. Actively support the graduate training program through design and delivery of didactic training seminars, supervision, and/or assistance with the design and implementation of other related training activities. Administrative Maintain clinical documentation in a thorough and timely manner. Review trainee session recordings and documentation. Track, analyze, and report on training activities, including, but not limited to: development, collection, and interpretation of event didactic feedback data; trainee application trends; and national trends in graduate‑level training. Provide oversight of CaPS graduate training programs in psychology, social work, and mental health counseling, including consultation with trainee supervisors. Communicate with staff regarding training programs. Train and consult with professional staff and trainees on current best practices for clinical supervision. Teamwork and Professional Development Participate in CaPS staff meetings, peer consultation group, IHS Case Collaboration, and CaPS Leadership Team meetings. Provide administrative/clinical supervision to CaPS staff In collaboration with supervisor, participate in campus committees, programs, professional development opportunities and working groups. Keep informed of national trends in graduate‑level training by participating in the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA) listserv and attending ACCTA conferences as time and budget allow. In the absence of the Director, serve as designee for CaPS operations. Required Qualifications Education PH.D or Psy.D in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology from APA‑accredited program. Professional License, or credential: Must have completed an APA‑accredited internship. Must be licensed or license‑eligible in New York State as a Psychologist within 3 months of hire. Experience A minimum of five years of clinical experience with young adults or adults in a dynamic mental health setting with demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team. A minimum of three years providing clinical supervision to clinicians or trainees. A minimum of three years providing leadership in a clinical setting. Skills Experience providing evidence‑based short‑term individual therapy, group therapy, consultation, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and case management with a range of clinical issues. Demonstrated competency providing effective clinical service with historically marginalized populations. Demonstrated strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively with professional staff and colleagues, effectively formulate and execute informed administrative decisions, ability to work independently within a dynamic clinical environment. Demonstrated sophisticated understanding of collegiate mental health service delivery models. Ability to write policies and conduct data‑driven service assessment. Understanding of, and compliance with, the ethical and legal issues involved in the provision of clinical services, including a thorough knowledge of New York State mental health regulations. Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences. Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals. Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately. Computer competence using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the complexities of the role and its functions. Knowledge of Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL). Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing clinical services to transgender populations and individuals on the autism spectrum. Ability to provide therapy in ASL, Mandarin, Hindi, Farsi, Bengali, or Nepali. Experience using PyraMed.
