About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Field Support Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations and projects with customers onsite, ensuring optimal performance, quality, and process improvements for automotive coatings. You will work closely with customers to monitor production, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to meet technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination & Communication: Facilitate communication between customers and internal teams through action register management and regular project meetings.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on product performance, including color and appearance criteria, while ensuring incoming quality standards are met.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with Sales and Technical teams to monitor inventory levels and ensure effective stock management.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and track value-added activities at customer sites to improve production processes and resolve production issues.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Generate project reports, data presentations, and documentation to track key metrics and progress.
  • Technical Support: Work with customers to adjust products for optimal color, flow, and appearance. Manage material adjustments for production batches when necessary.
  • Quality Control: Conduct on-site QC tests on materials and monitor customer production runs to ensure product quality.
  • Problem Solving: Diagnose root causes of production issues and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
  • Customer Collaboration: Assist in customer trials, sample submissions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Project Tracking: Maintain accurate and timely reports on quality, color trends, and project outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Education/Experience: Degree in a related field or minimum 2 years of experience in automotive paint technical support.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), excellent organizational abilities, and advanced computer proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with automotive paints, coatings, and isocyanates; familiarity with two-component coatings.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and focus on meeting customer needs.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop actionable solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality in all work.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to wear PPE (including a respirator) and work in an environment that may require handling hazardous materials.
  • Work Schedule: Flexibility to work off-shift hours as needed.
