As a CNC Gundrill Machinist you are responsible for gundrilling the some of the most critical features of the dies. You will be expected to closely monitor the machine, process and tooling for signs of failure. You will inspect and setup precision gundrills and other cutting tools. You will be working with engineers and CNC programmers to improve die manufacturing practices and design for manufacturing.Responsibilities Operate 5-axis CNC gundrilling machining center in a low-volume / high-mix workflowFollow process documents and perform setups and operations as describedMonitor drilling operations for signs of tool-wear, breakage, or other issuesSetup, measure, and inspect gundrills and other cutting toolsProvide feedback to engineers and CNC programmers on design and process improvementMachine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlinesTrack and document the machining processes and results Requirements 5+ years of 5-axis CNC machining operating experience and 3+ years of 5-axis CNC gundrill operating experience. (CHETO or Unisig experience preferred. Heidenhain control experience preferred)Thorough knowledge of industry leading gundrilling tooling and practicesThorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents and GD&TThorough knowledge in the use of measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparator, etc.Excellent attention to detail, mathematical skills, and mechanical aptitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop and present technical informationFlexible with ability to work overtime on short notice based on strategic needs of the company
