OverviewGSC Community Dining Program Manager, 30 hours per week. Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) is hiring to supervise and participate in the preparation and service of daily nutritious lunch meals at the Greenwood Senior Center. The chef will maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment and coordinate with volunteers. The role includes basic administrative duties and reporting.The PNA is committed to building a culture of equity and inclusion and seeks a candidate who will work with and challenge the organization and community to be respectful, accepting, and compassionate. This position reports to the Director of Senior Programming.Essential ResponsibilitiesSupervise and participate in the preparation and service of food; prepare main entrees; anticipate and perform preliminary preparation for next day’s meals.Shop for weekly menu and pick up food donations. Manage the budget for the meal program.Inspect food being prepared to ensure quantity, quality, and proper handling; demonstrate and train kitchen volunteers in cooking, preparing, and handling food.Plan, organize, and rotate menus, account for inventory, keep accurate records, and report.Lead and participate in cleaning of the kitchen and equipment; ensure sanitation and safety standards are met.Perform basic bookkeeping duties; organize and record daily receipts for deposit and ensure proper cash control.Coordinate with the Senior Center to integrate the meal program with center activities and goals.Attend regular all-staff meetings and trainings as requested.Lead a team of kitchen volunteers.Demonstrate willingness to learn and enhance skills that promote diversity, equity and inclusion; participate in events related to understanding institutional racism and other forms of oppression.Maintain regular and satisfactory attendance.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent2 years of experience in food preparation / kitchen management and supervisionExperience working with older adultsValid Food Handler’s Permit or willingness to obtain one upon hireAbility to work independently, using good judgment to make decisionsExcellent written and oral communication skillsCurrent First Aid / CPR / AED training (provided by PNA)Team-oriented and supportive of the PNA’s community-building missionAbility to work in an open office environmentOccasional lifting up to 25 pounds, including room setup and takedown for events, and ability to climb stairsCompensationThis is a 30-hour per week position, $23 - $26 per hour DOE.
