Overview:
Provides support and counsel to the Medical Staff leadership in all matters relating to medical staff governance. Directs, implements, maintains and evaluates the credentialing program in support of the Medical Staff function of appointing qualified applicants and assuring a qualified Medical Staff. Assures the Medical Staff meets the requirements delineated by state, federal, and accreditation standards and its responsibilities as delineated in the policies of the Hospital, the Bylaws, Rules & Regulations of the Medical Staff,. Assures that credentialing verification for all credentialed providers meets accreditation and statutory requirements and managed care delegated credentialing agreements, as appropriate. Assures enrollment of all UF and Shands-employed billing providers with federal and/or state payers. Oversees the Office of Housestaff Affairs and Graduate Medical Education to assure compliance with ACGME institution requirements that must be met to maintain accreditation of the Graduate Medical Education residency training programs.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor?s degree in Business, Health Administration or a related field is required. Master?s degree preferred. Minimum five years professional-level experience in a Medical Staff/Credentialing office, of which a minimum of three years must be in a supervisory capacity. Past experience managing the credentialing process and credentialing staff is required. Past experience in an academic medical center is preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills with knowledge and application of federal and state regulations related to the credentialing process is required. Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives, be self-directed, demonstrate sound judgment in decision making/problem-solving and demonstrate effective written and oral interpersonal/communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with physicians, clinical providers, legal, and other administrative staff. Knowledge and understanding of general hospital and outpatient clinic operations is required. Certification as Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Staff Services (CPMSM) preferred.Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:Employees in this position:Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'non-frequent driver'NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position.Licensure/Certification/Registration:none
