AWS established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we are doing with the U.Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them.
AWS Crypto and Identity services are managed cloud platforms which are foundational for AWS services to interact securely. br>We are looking for a AWS Systems Development Manager to lead a team that will operate AWS Crypto and Identity services in isolated regions and support government customers operating in those regions. This is an opportunity to operate and engineer systems on a massive scale, and to gain top-notch experience in cloud computing. You'll be surrounded by people who are passionate about cloud computing, and believe that world class service is critical to customer success. You'll become an expert at platform diagnosis, response, measurement, and automation. You will design and build the operational scalability that sustains the platform's insane growth.You are responsible for building a best-in-class engineering team that delivers excellent results, design and developing state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems, cultivate engineering and operational excellence through metrics and continuous learning, mentor and grow others to take on increasingly higher responsibilities, help raise the bar on technical excellence, communicate proficiently and concisely to different audiences.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics or relevant work experience
- 3 + years of experience as the systems engineering and operations leader/people manager for an Internet service or leading edge IT organization
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Demonstrated success building and leading teams
- Performance engineering and capacity planning background
- Systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Leading development life cycle processes and best practices, esp. in the areas of deployment automation and monitoring
- Mentoring/training systems engineers
- Communication skills, both written and verbal
- Deployment and usage of monitoring systems
- Leading software development organizations in a “DevOps” model
- Exposure with distributed systems at scale
- Forecasting and capacity planning systems
- Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.)
- Using AWS on commercial or government a plus
