Through strategic collaboration with the business development team, this role creates and executes a multi‑year sales plan to engage utilities and promote our Programs and Research & Evaluation business lines. Success is measured by achieving annual growth goals and strengthening Michaels' presence as a trusted partner in the energy industry. A successful candidate will thrive at relationship‑building and align with our brand and company values.ResponsibilitiesExecutive business development plans for each business lineBuild strong relationships with utility decision makers who buy DSM services and connect their unique needs to our servicesNetwork with stakeholders, policy makers, and influencers in the industryKeep abreast of market changes (state and utility‑level) to identify new opportunities for MichaelsActively engage in industry associations, committees, stakeholder meetings, and regulatory proceedings within targeted statesConduct capability presentations with potential clients and partnersAttend and represent Michaels Energy at industry conferences and eventsProvide thought leadership through webinars, blogs, and / or speaking opportunitiesMeet regularly with internal teams to share prospect, partner, and market intelRepresent the client's voice in the proposal process by providing intel and content as needed to help craft a compelling, winning storyAssist proposal team in identifying strategic partners, as neededEnsure the proposal team receives all RFPs from targeted utility and government entitiesRecord sales activities and intel through HubSpotProvide monthly reporting on KPIsContributionsAfter 3 months, you will have.Learned the company's processes and core servicesBegan initial prospect outreach and introductionsAfter 6 months, you will have.Attended several industry conferencesDeveloped a pipelineShared solution ideas from clients with the internal teamQualificationsBachelor's degree in Business or a related fieldMBA is preferred5 to 8 years of sales experience in energy efficiency or load management industriesExisting industry connectionsProven track record of closing large dealsAbility to travel up to 50% to conferences, industry events, and client meetingsWork LocationsRemotely in any U.S. location or any of the Michaels Energy office locations : La Crosse WI, Minneapolis, MN, Cedar Rapids, IA, Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, and Richmond, VA.Pay Range$130,000 - $150,000 + regional adjustment if applicablePerformance‑based commissionWhy Work for Michaels Energy?We Never Stop LearningFlexible Work HoursCollaborativeCareer DevelopmentBeer FridaysFresh Fruit DailyWellness RewardsFun Company OutingsDiversity StatementWe strive to build and nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming for all employees.
