Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates staff performance. This includes training on established policies and procedures including but not limited to JCAHO requirements, patient's rights (especially related to Advance Directives and HIPAA).Performs audits to maintain quality of information collected at time of registration. Educates staff regarding deficiencies in QA and tracks on-going compliance.Collects co-pays/deductibles from hospital patients; educates, coaches and tracks staff proficiency and collection totals. Works with staff to achieve goals.Collects cash from hospital departments and prepares daily cash deposit including physically depositing with bank. Logs deposits for accounting purposes.Manages the fiscal and administrative operation of assigned area. Develops, monitors, and meets or exceeds the budget.Recruits, interviews, and selects volunteers. Trains and monitors new volunteers, schedules volunteers.Coordinates with department to ensure their needs are met and matched appropriately with the volunteer skills and needs.Ensures all volunteers have required mandatory training such as HIPAA, emergency preparedness, etc.Meets with the PAS Senior Manager concerning policies and procedures, admission or other functional problems. Attends regular meetings with Patient Access Management staff to ensure standardization of processes throughout the health system.Registers patients, makes corrections, verifies medical necessity compliance, and follows up on Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaire as needed.Reviews incoming business office mail, handles and refers to departments accordingly.Prepares monthly cash drawer audits, investigates, and reports variances.Assists with and resolves patient inquires or complaints implementing service recovery.Creates a welcoming and professional environment for patients and visitors in lobby areas by demonstrating exceptional customer service.Educates patients of insurance benefits and financial responsibly for services being rendered.Contacts insurance carriers or financial counselors and acts as an advocate for the patient.
