The Business Development Executive will partner with business unit market leaders in developing and supporting positioning strategies with existing and potential customers to win project work. Responsibilities Manage the positioning activities of the business development team Participate in strategic business planning and develop strategic positioning plans for company and project pursuits to win work Create and produce internal and external communications, marketing/branding/advertising materials and presentations Coordinate prequalification efforts with targeted customers and partners Initiate customer feedback on proposals and presentations Function as the liaison between business development, pre‑construction, and marketing Provide insight into market sectors; perform market trends analysis Establish and nurture strategic business partnerships and customer relationships Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential partners, including targeted customers, design professionals, partner companies, community leaders, utilities, equipment manufacturers, and engineering firms Identify new market sector opportunities and potential future customers and convert them to contacts for market sector leaders Become familiar with customers’ project estimates to facilitate discussion with customers Complete Requests for Proposals with 100% accuracy and compliance with the owner’s specifications Play an integral role with the development team Take work direction, utilize training, and complete performance reviews Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision making to assure project success Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field Proven customer relationship building skills, with developed local/regional business knowledge and relationships Proven knowledge and execution of successful marketing strategies Detail orientation sufficient for data entry, reporting, financial projections for sales and selections, and market analysis Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent CRM web application skills Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies Minimum 10 years prior industry‑related business development experience Current driver’s license Travel of up to 30% of the time may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of the position A Few Benefits Offered Medical and prescription drug plans that include no additional cost vision coverage Dental plan 401(k) retirement plan with a generous Mortenson match Paid time off, holidays, and other paid leaves Employer paid life, AD&D, and disability insurance No‑cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work‑life resources Tuition reimbursement Adoption assistance Gym membership discount program The base pay range for this role is $164,000 MIN – $246,000 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Additional Notes Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position. Our postings are typically open a minimum of 5 days and an average of 44 days.
