About Totus NeurorehabilitationTotus Neurorehabilitation is a growing community neurorehabilitation service providing brain injury rehabilitation and cognitive assessments throughout the South West of England, South Wales and East Anglia. There are currently three teams – Bristol, Exeter and East Anglia. Funded on a case‑by‑case basis through individual funding packages, the post holder will work with clients on bespoke funding agreements.Position OverviewThe Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist will be based mainly from home and will provide neuropsychological assessment and neurorehabilitation services to clients with acquired and traumatic brain injury and neurological conditions, in their homes or at designated clinic rooms. The role is suitable for experienced clinicians or newly qualified Clinical Psychologists with a passion for neuropsychology. Work hours will be based on individual client funding; this is an associate position, so the successful candidate will be self‑employed, registered as a sole trader with HMRC, and will hold indemnity insurance, DBS and ICO registration.The successful candidate must hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a car for business purposes, and be able to travel long distances for appointments. Travel time will be paid at half the clinical rate. The role requires a confidential, secure space for online sessions and meetings when working from home.Main DutiesWorking as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team (including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists), the post holder will:Provide evidence‑based brain injury rehabilitation in the community, clients’ homes and outpatient clinics.Conduct cognitive assessments in clinic rooms.Manage your own caseload and work across services and systems throughout the clients’ rehabilitation journeys.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently manage a caseload of complex neurological rehabilitation clients.Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological assessments using appropriate psychometric tools.Deliver neuropsychological rehabilitation to clients in the community.Interpret complex clinical data for diagnosis and prognosis.Provide detailed written reports and feedback to clients, families and referrers.Liaise with case managers, legal teams, insurers and external agencies.Participate in MDT meetings and collaborative care planning.Maintain and store confidential clinical data securely in line with GDPR and ICO.Use outcome measures to evaluate and guide intervention.Complete risk assessments and ensure appropriate safety measures are in place.Provide education to clients, family members and care teams on needs and strategies.Clinical DutiesInterpret client data and formulate diagnoses.Write comprehensive goal plans alongside the MDT.Multidisciplinary WorkingCollaboration with physiotherapists, OTs, SLTs, support workers, case managers and solicitors.Contribute to MDT assessments and goal planning.Attend MDT meetings when required.Work with both internal and external health, social care and legal professionals.Supervision, Support and TrainingReceive regular clinical supervision.Engage in reflective practice and peer learning.Support knowledge‑sharing within Totus and externally where appropriate.Service Development and Clinical GovernanceAdhere to BPS, HCPC and Totus professional standards and codes.Stay current with evidence‑based neuropsychological rehabilitation.Identify and report risks and safeguarding concerns appropriately.Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and RCOT standards.Participate in data collection for quality improvement.Notify the Totus Directors on development of clinical protocols and pathways.Key RelationshipsClients and families/carersTotus Directors and Clinical SupervisorsCase Managers and Legal RepresentativesMDT members (e.g. SLTs, PTs, OTs, Support Workers)External statutory and voluntary sector professionalsWorking ConditionsThe post holder will work primarily from home, but will be required to visit patients’ homes to conduct assessment and interventions. Clinic rooms may also be utilised as appropriate. Travel will involve driving up to 4 hours in a day. There is a frequent requirement for VDU and computer use, intense concentration during assessments and occasional exposure to confused, agitated or aggressive patients.Person SpecificationQualificationsDoctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the BPS and recognised by the HCPC.HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.Evidence of continuing professional development in line with HCPC/BPS requirements.Pre or Postgraduate qualification or training in Clinical Neuropsychology (e.g., PGDip or MSc).BPS registration as a Chartered Psychologist.Completion of relevant CPD in neuropsychological assessment or rehabilitation.ExperienceExperience of working with adults with neurological conditions during clinical psychology training or equivalent.Experience of delivering psychological interventions relevant to medical or neuro conditions.Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT).Experience working in the private healthcare sector.Experience working in community settings and/or home visits.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesUnderstanding of a range of psychological models, theories and interventions applicable to neurorehabilitation.Ability to undertake structured cognitive assessments and produce clinical formulations (with supervision).High level of competence in verbal and written communication.Awareness of safeguarding, consent and capacity legislation.Ability to manage a clinical caseload under supervision, prioritising work to meet deadlines.Competent in IT systems including Word, Excel, Outlook and internet‑based tools.Familiarity with litigation processes in personal injury or clinical negligence contexts.Understanding of NHS and/or private rehabilitation service delivery models.Familiarity with digital health platforms and cloud‑based record systems (e.g., Qunote).Skills in delivering psychoeducation to families, staff or support networks.Personal QualitiesAbility to maintain professionalism and compassion in emotionally demanding situations.Commitment to team working and reflective practice.Emotional resilience when working with trauma, distress or neurocognitive impairments.Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development.Willingness to travel across regions if necessary for patient visits or meetings.Access to own transport and valid driving licence for community visits.The post holder must have indemnity insurance, a valid DBS certificate and registration with ICO.Flexibility to contribute to team training, supervision or public engagement as needed.Understanding of cultural diversity and ability to adapt interventions accordingly.Equal OpportunitiesTotus is committed to equal opportunity.
