Description

Primary Duty

The primary duty of this position is to develop, test, and deploy applications, firmware and device drivers using C, C++, and/or Python as part of a larger team responsible for the development of embedded systems.

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Write applications, firmware, and device drivers for operation in the Linux operating system
  2. Develop, debug, package, and deploy systems software targeting embedded devices
  3. Produce functional proof-of-concept prototypes
  4. Research new embedded systems, hardware, and software technology
  5. Produce detailed project documentation and technical communications

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a coach or mentor for other positions in the department.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are expected to coincide with the Company's normal business hours, Monday-Friday.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's degree required; post-graduate degree/s preferred in EE, CE, CS, SE, or related disciplines
  • 5+ years of industry and/or academic experience
  • Fluent in C, C++, Python, and/or similar languages
  • Experience with developing applications, firmware, and device drivers for Linux, real-time operating systems, and bare-metal systems
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle, best practices, coding standards, GIT version control, continuous integration and testing, code profilers, and debugging tools
  • Knowledge of video systems and compression technologies: MPEG4, MJPEG, H.265, etc.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, REST, JSON and other network protocols.

This position does not require regular travel; but may require travel to seminars, conferences, and the like to gather new technology information.
