Days-8:00am-4:30pm
Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD- Core Lab-Customer Service
Position Summary:
- Reports to the Lab Manager and is responsible for coordinating all activities of the department to achieve goals and objectives, working through a subordinate supervisory staff.
- Develops in collaboration with senior management; department goals, objectives, operational policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to hospital and departmental policies/procedures, within the department and across all shifts.
- Responsible for administration of the department budget.
- Performs other related administrative and professional duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related Biological Science which includes a one year supervised clinical internship in a licensed facility; and/or equivalent education and training in Microbiology, Transfusion Medicine, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Histology, Cytology, Pathology Assistant, Mortuary Science or related specialty field. (May consider Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with Bachelor's degree in related or other sciences when combined with 8 or more years of additional laboratory experience)
Work Experience:
- Work requires minimum 5 years of progressive laboratory experience to acquire a foundation of knowledge and familiarity with the scope of laboratory operations.
- Supervisory or management experience preferred.
Certification:
- Certification in Medical Technology, MT (ASCP), approved categorical ASCP (ex; BB, H, C) or SBB, or a nationally recognized professional organization approved by the department, ISCLT, NRM, AMT, HTL(ASCP), CT(ASCP). (May accept MLT/ASCP certification with minimum of 8 years of progressive laboratory experience)
- (For Surgical/Anatomic Pathology, certification not required, AAPA preferred).
