Director of Athletics Equipment

The George Washington University is seeking a Director of Athletics Equipment to support our 20 varsity athletic programs. This role will oversee all aspects of equipment management, ensuring timely ordering, proper inventory, maintenance, and distribution of gear and uniforms for competitions and practices. Responsibilities Serve as the primary liaison with equipment providers, including Adidas and Game‑One, ensuring compliance with contracts, scheduling, and delivery. Collaborate with coaches and programs to identify equipment and apparel needs, place orders, track shipments, and provide updates. Oversee ordering, inventory, maintenance, and distribution for all teams’ equipment and uniforms. Partner with the athletic business office to develop and manage the equipment budget. Inspect and maintain all equipment to meet NCAA, A‑10, and conference safety standards, replacing or repairing items as necessary. Design uniforms and practice gear in alignment with University branding guidelines. Hire, train, and supervise full‑time, part‑time, and student managers, including laundry services. Coordinate packing, transportation, and distribution of equipment to sport programs or internal departments. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 2 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree or higher. Degree must be conferred by the start date. Equivalent education, training, or experience may substitute for the degree. AEMA certification or the ability to obtain AEMA certification within one year of hire. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree desired. At least 2 years of equipment management experience, preferably in an NCAA or professional setting. Strong understanding of NCAA equipment rules and compliance. Proficiency with equipment management software and inventory systems. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Flexibility and adaptability to a fluid work environment. Capability to lift heavy objects over 50 lbs. Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Availability for weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
