Mercer County Jail is seeking a dedicated and passionate Instructor to teach High School Equivalency (HSE) classes. This position plays a crucial role in providing educational opportunities for inmates, helping them achieve their HSE credential and improving their prospects for reintegration into society.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver HSE curriculum tailored to the needs of incarcerated students.
  • Facilitate engaging and interactive classes that promote learning and skill development.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with jail staff to ensure a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, adult education, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience teaching or tutoring in HSE or adult education settings helpful.
  • State clearance (background check) required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with varied educational backgrounds.
