Lead Machinist

Our client, an industry leading manufacturer of precision metal and steel components, has an immediate need for an experienced Lead Machinist, to join their winning team in Springfield.



Under minimum supervision, our candidate of choice, will work with blueprints, sketches written and/or verbal instructions, sets up and performs the most diversified and complex progressive machining, fitting and assembly operations. You will use a wide variety of tools, machine details and parts in process.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be able to make complicated set-ups and operate available machine tools; determine operational sequences, proper jigs, fixtures and design of tools to be used.
Must be able to apply all machine shop measuring equipment in order to produce work to specifications.
Must be able to skillfully use all machinist’s hand tools and measuring instruments.
Must be familiar with the machining of most materials.
Must be able to use advanced shop math, including trigonometry.
Must have the ability to assist foreman in the operation and scheduling, assists machinists in setups and resolution of any machining problems.
Must be able to move parts and materials to and from work area.
Must maintain good housekeeping in work area.



KEY REQUIREMENTS:

Proficient use of “Bridgeport” type milling machines
Proficient use of “Hardinge” type tool room precision lathes as well as engine lathes
Proficient use of tool and surface grinders
Proficient use of all shop inspection equipment, including but not limited to, CMM, comparator, digital height gages, micrometers, etc.
Requires a High school diploma or equivalent education
May be required to perform other duties as directed by supervision.
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
