Skills Looking For:

  • The position is within the Product Performance Group, focusing on failure analysis of explanted biomedical implant products, specifically for Class 3 medical devices such as left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) used for heart failure patients.
  • Strong electrical engineering knowledge with experience in circuit analysis, schematics, and component-level failure analysis.
  • Biomedical engineering background with a focus on electrical engineering is also considered.
  • Technical writing skills to document investigations and reports.


Industry or Background Preferences:

  • Preferably candidates with degrees in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with a focus on electrical systems. Candidates with some industry experience in medical devices, post-market product support, or failure analysis are preferred.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Perform failure analysis of medical implant devices.
  • Conduct circuit analysis and electrical engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Bio Lab and other engineers on technical investigations.
  • Write detailed technical reports for regulatory bodies and customers.
  • Adhere to lab safety and biohazard protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE.


Education and Level of Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with a focus on electrical engineering.
  • Entry-level position: candidates may be fresh out of college or have up to 2 years of experience through internships or co-op roles.


Overqualification Criteria:

  • A PhD is considered overqualified for this role.


Preferred Skills:

Experience with circuit analysis, schematics, and soldering.

Familiarity with failure analysis and technical report writing is a plus.
