JOB DESCRIPTIONGENERAL SUMMARY
Sonographer responsibilities include using sonographic equipment to record images of patients for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Select and examine images, search for differences between healthy and pathological areas and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended based on preliminary findings Present the sonograms and preliminary findings to Physicians. Complete the appropriate documentation and maintain patients’ medical records. Assist Physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures. Maintain and clean the sonographic equipment. Select and examine images, search for differences between healthy and pathological areas and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended based on preliminary findings. Complete the appropriate documentation and maintain patients’ medical records. Assist Physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures. Assist in the care and handling of equipment including maintaing and cleaning the sonographic equipment. Insert patient information and personal data into the computer to maintain examination records. Assess the patient’s physical, psychological and educational needs in order to obtain appropriate history prior to each exam. Explains process to patient, instructs and assists patient in to position for exam. Monitor images for quality and adjusted as needed. Record optimal anatomical images that are transferred to the PACS system, disc, strip printout or film to obtain a permanent record. Provide relevant technical information about the patient and exam to facilitate in the interpretation of the study by the radiologist. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTSKNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES
Knowledge and ability to navigate EMR system.. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong technical, communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills. Strong analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills. Customer-oriented with ability to remain calm in difficult situations. Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions. Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of physicians, managers, patients, family members, and the general public. Ability to explain technical terms in a clear and understandable way. Ability to operate imaging technology and machinery. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED: ARDMS Registered with a minimum of 5 years’ experience Current R.D.M.S. Certification.
