- This position reports to the Director of Athletics. - The position requires meeting the equipment needs for AU’s 24 varsity sports. This includes preparing equipment for practice and games, preparing the field/court for practice and/or games, setup and teardown of athletic facilities, fitting student-athletes for equipment and gear, and repairing uniforms and gear. - The Equipment Coordinator is responsible for inventory, care, and repair of equipment and uniforms. The position will oversee the maintenance and management of two equipment rooms. - The Equipment Coordinator, in tandem with Facilities and Athletic Department administrators, will ensure that Athletic Department facilities are maintained at the highest level. This position is responsible for the care, organization, and inventory of two equipment room offices and all laundry facilities in the Athletic Department. - This position will work with coaches to select and order uniforms and gear. This position will serve as the primary contact with Under Armour representatives and Ashland University’s gear provider – Game One. This position will also be required to work with other vendors. - This position will attend a wide range of AU sporting events, meeting pre-game, in-game, and post-game needs. This position will work all football practices and attend all football games, home and away. - As part of the Athletic Department management team, the Equipment Coordinator will attend weekly staff meetings and any other department meetings as needed. - The Equipment Coordinator will produce organizational plans to ensure that teams have all their equipment needs met for games and practices. This will include producing a schedule of coverage for events. - This position will have the opportunity to build a student work staff. The Equipment Coordinator will hire, train, and supervise student work staff and supervise a graduate assistant. - The Equipment Coordinator will take the lead in fitting student-athletes with uniforms and equipment. - The position requires being current with trends and general practices in sport management and equipment coordination. The position will attend workshops, clinics, and forums in an effort to stay current in the field. - At times, this position will require working with other on-campus departments such as Student Affairs and Recreational Services. This position will also be called on at times to work with community organizations such as the YMCA and the Kroc Center. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree is required. Candidate should have Athletic Equipment Manager certification or be in the process of obtaining certification. Candidates should possess strong organizational and time-management skills and have the ability to multi-task. It is desirable that candidates have the ability to work under deadline pressure. Applicants should have the ability to work with student-athletes and coaches. This position requires the ability to lift and transport heavy objects. Candidates should be able to work in various weather conditions and be able to stand for extended periods of time. The ability to work weekends and evenings is required.
