RN - Clinical Care Coord - Wound Care Clinic - FT Days M-F

Participates in direct patient care and other supportive activities under the direct delegation of the providers. Maintains and applies principles of safety. Recognizes when and how to escalate patient concerns up the chain of command. Works in cooperation with other health team members.
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Performs functions such as monitoring vital signs, dressing wounds, administering basic procedures and other basic care options.
* Performs IV therapy as needed.
* Utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care.
* Observes the patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports any changes to the provider.
* Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through techniques that support and achieve positive outcomes.
* Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
* Interviews patient to determine medical problem/condition and documents in chart for physician.
* Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight.
* Assists physician with patient examination as needed.
* Reviews physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patient.
* Documents services performed on appropriate forms.
* Dresses wounds as instructed. Applies compresses, ice and heat packs.
* Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
* Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and notes time and amount on patients' charts.
* Assembles and uses clinic equipment.
* Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples.
* Sterilizes equipment and supplies.
* Cleans rooms and changes linens.
* Maintains supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
* Responds to patient or client telephone inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient's/clients problems and questions.
* Follows up with patients who miss appointments.
* Follows up with patients on lab results, including the scheduling of any additional tests.
* Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
* Performs prior authorizations with insurance companies as required for referrals, procedures or other required items
* Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Knowledge of nursing functions in a clinic environment.
* Basic computer skills.
* Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively.
* Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Previous exposure to a clinical environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Graduate of an approved RN program.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Previous experience in a medical center or hospital.
REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
* Current licensure as an RN in the State of Kansas.
* Healthcare Provider BLS - if BLS is not American Heart Association, AHA BLS is required within 30 days of hire
PREFERRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
* American Heart Association BLS.
