SUMMARY: Acting as a social ambassador to the guest, this position helps direct the flow of guests and staff to ensure a fine dining pleasure. All minor problems are managed in a timely and effective manner without interruption of guest service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluation of OpenTable reservations
  • Working with management to call in or call off staff as required for the shift
  • Responsible for assigning and keeping track of in-house guests and visiting guests and any other information relevant to the servers.
  • Answer phone calls, add reservations, and make sure no time slot is overbooked when possible. Add phone numbers and information for visiting guests, add all names for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, track all departures and arrivals. Make notes of any allergies and special events.
  • Section assignment for all shifts, when making sections, try to give each server equal amounts of tables and/or covers.
  • Attend pre-shift line up daily to present all relevant operational information to the serving team for remarkable guest experience.
  • Assisting with setting up tables
  • Checking menu counts and cleanliness of menus
  • Organizing podium for efficiency and cleanliness
  • Greeting the guest with the professionalism expected of a very high-end restaurant
  • Checking the floor to make sure guest are always attended too
  • Responsible for the restaurant ambiance in all areas such as temperature, music, and lighting
  • Monitoring of the restaurant, bathroom(s) and entry areas for appeal such as litter, cigarette butts, etc.
  • Maintain responsibility for and cleanliness of coat closet, including organization of coat tagging system
  • Understanding of all duties in all areas of service and able to adjust when necessary
  • Executing closing procedures for restaurant
  • Keep track of all guest comments in our internal system and respond to guest feedback in a timely manner.
  • Help MOD activate industry night events for the locals and recurrent guests.
  • Keep track of regular guests and maintain close communication with them, enhance experience by personalizing communications and service in the restaurant.
  • Manage bookings for special events by communicating with the reservations team and the front desk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The host team will be direct reports to this position, lead host must keep constant communication with the MOD regarding flow of the dining room, walk-in trends, seating trends, etc. They assist in providing direction to co-workers such as kitchen, servers, bussers, and bartenders, keeping them abreast of what is needed to provide an exceptional dining experience for the guest.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in a restaurant setting required.
  • Thorough knowledge of state liquor regulations; ability to identify when a patron has had his/her alcohol limit.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED with two (2) years' experience in the food and beverage and hospitality industry with progressively increasing responsibility.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and understand contract deliverables. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to speak in public settings as needed. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, BOH and customers.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of POS and Inventory software; booking systems; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This work environment can be very fast paced with acute attention to detail. Noise levels can rise during peak times. Alcohol related environments sometimes display unacceptable personalities, however this is a VERY upscale environment and unacceptable behavior is dealt with immediately.
