DescriptionThe Maintenance Technician routinely performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and components to ensure the continued safe, efficient, and effective operations of equipment used in the facility. This position also assists with maintaining parts inventory, organizing, and maintaining the maintenance shop, as well as inspecting and diagnosing malfunctions and breakdowns and performs repairs. This position must be able to take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability and lifespan. Work Schedule: DuPont 12 Hour Rotating ShiftResponsibilitiesCompletes routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshoots maintenance issues on standardized equipment Responds to production requests for immediate attention to production line breakdowns Assists in maintaining the organization of the maintenance shop and adequate parts inventory Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc. Communicates and collaborates with other departments, including production, warehouse, and quality, regarding the status of maintenance projects and needs Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods Ensures plant is maintained and in accordance with housekeeping policies and guidelines Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations Other duties as assigned. RequirementsSkills and AbilitiesAbility to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact with people in various positions and levels within the company Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently Must have effective time management skills Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors Must maintain a clean and safe workspace Must have a valid driver's license Must be dependable and have excellent attendance Must be available to work overtime as needed; with little, to no notice Must be able to pass a forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, a respirator fit test Must be able to read, write, and speak English Education and ExperienceTwo-year technical degree in maintenance related field or a combination of education experience. Two years of experience as a Maintenance Technician preferred Plastic extrusion experience preferred Forklift and Scissor lift maintenance experience preferred Basic electrical knowledge preferred Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsWorking conditions in the role of a Maintenance Technician may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents Regularly Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment Use of safety equipment as dictated by the work (safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, etc.) Exposure to moving mechanical parts Frequently Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles Occasionally Sit Handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 pounds. Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protectionWork at elevated heights of approximately 30 feet Other Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
