Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

Role Overview:

We seek an engineering lead to join us in building our in-person payments (IPP) mobile team. The IPP Mobile team is working on a new chapter of payment solutions. We believe in the future, where payments mean more flexibility and mobility during checkout. Our ambition is to build the most customer-focused software and hardware so businesses can use any device to take payments anywhere in the world.

This person will be a leader within the Chicago Tech Hub to help create an end-to-end strategy to make our Mobile team successful. This team will be responsible for designing and implementing more significant technical changes. You will also be working closely with the product team to understand and scope changes for our merchants and tackle security and compliance challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with design, product, engineers, sales, account management, and other key stakeholders within Adyen to foster seamless collaboration and drive product development excellence.
  • Product Strategy: Craft a long-term vision for your team's product, striking a pragmatic balance between trade-offs and aligning it with the overarching company vision.
  • Team Motivation and Coaching: Exhibit leadership and inspire your managers, acting as a catalyst by coaching in areas such as engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, and product roadmap planning.
  • Goal Setting: Establish clear team objectives that harmonize with Adyen's strategic payment objectives, working closely with the product managers to achieve alignment.
  • Team Environment: Cultivate an inspirational and collaborative team environment characterized by open communication and a culture of constructive feedback.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead the recruitment of new team members who embody the Adyen culture and possess the requisite skills to make meaningful contributions.

Requirements:

  • Experience: You bring a wealth of knowledge, with 8+ years in the Mobile (Android & iOS) and/or IoT software development industry within a fast-paced tech environment, including at least two years of leading managers.
  • Customer Facing: You love spending time speaking directly with customers, building long-lasting relationships (both internally and externally), and understanding the real-world impact of the decisions you make.
  • Technical Proficiency: You have built and maintained large-scale Kotlin and Mobile (Android & iOS) applications, preferably with an IoT component.
  • Innovative Mindset: You relish challenging the status quo and possess an innate curiosity to question the "why."
  • Leadership Qualities: You are a dynamic self-starter adept at fostering alignment across multiple teams, with solid coaching and mentoring capabilities.
  • Strategic Thinking: You have a track record of collaborating with senior leadership to shape strategic direction, including product roadmaps.
  • Communication and Team Player: As an exceptional communicator, you foster a culture of collaboration while exhibiting robust management skills and technical acumen.

If you're seeking an exhilarating opportunity to lead a team in pioneering pricing solutions within Adyen's Payments Solution, we invite you to join our team and contribute significantly to transforming the global payment landscape.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments:

Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds and cultures is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, and we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen.

Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Does this sound like you? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application.

What’s next?:

Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days. Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role. Don’t be afraid to let us know if you need more flexibility.

Adyen is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, color, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, marital status or any legally protected status.

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
