Senior Civil Litigation Associate Attorney Location: Virginia Beach & Norfolk, VA Salary Range: $110,000 – $140,000 Job Summary Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Civil Litigation Associate Attorney with 5+ years of civil litigation experience to join their growing legal team. This role is designed for an attorney who is ready to independently manage complex civil litigation cases while also working closely with seasoned partners for strategic development and mentorship. The successful candidate will handle a wide range of civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts, providing high-level legal support, advocacy, and client representation. This role requires exceptional writing skills, analytical ability, courtroom confidence, and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage all aspects of civil litigation, including case evaluation, strategy formation, pleadings, motions, discovery, and trial preparation Conduct thorough legal research on civil litigation issues, case law, statutes, and procedural rules Draft and edit civil litigation documents such as complaints, answers, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and discovery responses Take and defend depositions, handle evidentiary issues, and participate in mediations or other dispute resolution proceedings Represent clients in hearings, motions, pretrial conferences, and other civil litigation proceedings in state and federal courts Oversee and coordinate discovery processes, including document production, interrogatories, subpoenas, and expert witness preparation Maintain proactive communication with clients, providing updates and guidance throughout the litigation process Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to ensure smooth progression of civil litigation matters Manage multiple active cases simultaneously with strong organization and prioritization Make informed and strategic decisions that align with client goals and litigation best practices Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys or legal support staff as needed Uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and integrity Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Active license to practice law in Virginia Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably within a law firm or through a civil-focused clerkship Proven success handling civil litigation matters from inception through resolution Strong legal research and writing skills with experience drafting persuasive litigation documents Solid understanding of Virginia and federal civil procedure Excellent courtroom advocacy skills, including handling hearings, depositions, and motion practice Strong organizational, time-management, and project-management capabilities Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a collaborative legal team Strong client service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly and maintain professional relationships Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a deadline-driven environment What Our Client Offers Hands-on experience with substantive civil litigation matters Ongoing mentorship from experienced litigators Professional growth opportunities in both state and federal practice Supportive and collaborative work environment Opportunity to take ownership of significant legal matters and build a strong litigation portfolio Skills: litigation, legal research, motions #J-18808-Ljbffr
