To do this, we need a forward-looking and innovative engineer who will help shape the future of automotive structures.As a Senior Responsible Aerospace and Defense Engineer, you will be responsible for product development through its entire product life cycle, from program kick-off through production. In this role, you will create and manage CAD models, FEA models and BOMs for individual Nodes as well as full structures. You will develop and maintain engineering documentation, including system level DFMEA and DVP and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand manufacturing/design capabilities and limitations and to ensure proposed design changes can be efficiently produced and assembled. You will also act as technical liaison between Divergent and its customers, to ensure product requirements are concurred, tracked and achieved. You will lead and influence internal engineers in their product development work.The RoleCreate and manage CAD designs of the components, as well as the BOM structure.Build up and analyze FE models of Node-based vehicle structures applications including validation using hand calculations and optimization.Present design summary/reports efficiently at meetings and to other relevant engineers or external parties.Create, refine, and execute new technical solutions for automotive structures to support external customer programs and joint development efforts.Work collaboratively in a team environment within the DAPS Product Engineering team and cross-functionally with other disciplines to efficiently design and release structures that are optimized for mass, efficient production, and assembly.Work cross-functionally to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and support prototype and production build activities.Maintain technical documentation, including best practices and lessons learned.Support vehicle builds and product development testing and troubleshooting.Lead and influence peers on the team to achieve product requirements.Mentor and assist less experienced team members.Basic QualificationsAbility to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controlsBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent6+ years of experience in structure design6+ years CAD experience creating detailed models. Siemens NX is a plus6+ years PLM experience. Teamcenter is a plus6+ years of experience in structural analysis6+ years of experience in analysis software packages such as Nastran, Optistruct, and/or LS-DynaSolid understanding of linear/nonlinear behaviors of advanced materials to achieve lightweight structural solutionsExperience with aerospace load applications and MIL-STDsOutstanding comprehension of solid mechanicsStrong interpersonal skills and a motivated self-starter who can manage personal workload and execute to tight schedulesAbility to span multiple projects or programs across different product typesPreferred QualificationsExperience interfacing with engineering, testing, and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and constraintsExpert knowledge within an aerospace and defense domainExperience with DFMEA, DVP, control plans, PPAP and APQPKnowledge of overall vehicle systems/sub-systems and requirementsExperience supporting analysis and completing documentation for product approval and launchExperience supporting structural design and analysis throughout the design, build, and test phases of a development cycleExperience with fast iteration prototyping programsExperience managing system configurations and changes to size, weight, and cost constraintsEngagement with DoD airworthiness stakeholders such as Air Force Test Center (AFTC) or FAAWork is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipmentCompensationAt Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job.
