We're designing, building, and testing next generation long range strike weapons systems to give America and its Allies a definitive edge and deter future conflicts.As Senior Structural Engineer, you will lead structural and site design efforts across our expanding operational footprint. You'll be responsible for designing and reviewing facilities that house energetic materials, propulsion systems, and advanced R&D efforts. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong field instincts, and experience designing for complex, hazardous environments.ResponsibilitiesLead the structural design of new test, production, and R&D facilities across multiple sitesOwn design criteria, drawings, calculations, and specifications for buildings, foundations, blast-rated structures, and site infrastructureSupport permitting efforts by interfacing with regulatory bodies and ensuring code compliance (IBC, UFC, ATFP. etc.)Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external engineering firms to define facility requirements and ensure alignment with mission-critical programsEvaluate and specify materials and construction methods for hazardous operations, including explosive and chemical safetyOversee construction field activities, conduct site assessments, and resolve design-related issues in real timeParticipate in hazard reviews and risk mitigation planning, particularly around explosive siting, environmental controls, and structural integritySupport long-range infrastructure planning to ensure Castelion's future growth is enabled by scalable, code-compliant physical assetsBasic RequirementsBachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (or relatedfield)8+ years of experience in structural engineering, including design of industrial or mission-critical facilitiesDemonstrated experience with facilities involving hazardous materials (e.g., energetics, chemicals, explosives,fuels)Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards: IBC, ASCE, UFC, ATFP, DoD and DOE standards, etc.Experience producing detailed design packages, including calculations, drawings, and specsAbility to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and solve problems with limited informationWillingness to travel to support field operations and construction (10-20%)Preferred Skills and ExperiencePE license or ability to obtain one within 12 monthsExperience with DoD or DOE facility projects, including explosive siting and hardened structuresFamiliarity with permitting processes related to hazardous materials and environmental regulationsLeadership QualitiesBias to Action and Creative Problem Solving. Desire and experience questioning assumptions in ways that lead to break through ideas that are ultimately implemented. Successfully bring in applicable processes/concepts/materials from other industries to achieve efficiency gains. The ability to personally resolve minor issues in development without requiring significant support.High Commitment, High Initiative.
