About the Position

The Site Safety Coordinator serves as a resource to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for employees by implementing standards, training, outreach, education, and assistance for a busy warehouse environment. This position provides coordination, basic guidance, and training in all areas of health and safety compliance to achieve excellence. This position will have the accountability for ensuring the coordination and dissemination of safety information and processes along with reporting adherence to established safety policies or regulatory requirements.

Functions

  • · Conduct monthly safety checks on work areas and equipment.
  • · Coordinate company safety training programs, including general office safety, fire prevention, injury and illness prevention, evacuation, personal protective equipment, lock out/tag out, confined space, forklift, safety committees, etc.
  • · Develop and lead safety meetings, including training agendas, minutes, and covering applicable reports.
  • · Ensure compliance with the rules and programs of all regulatory agencies, governing environmental issues, health, and safety in the workplace.
  • · Support the accuracy and development of reporting to regulatory authorities (OSHA, FDA, EPA, etc.)
  • · Fulfill requirements for training, inspections, emergency drills, and record keeping.
  • · Review safety policies, procedures, training materials, etc to ensure updates are discussed and properly aligned (version management).
  • · Run basic safety reports and cover the results to ensure performance within safety is highly visible.
  • · Track and report employee’s status on safety training programs (Bloodborne Pathogen, Haz Com, LOTO).
  • · Effectively engage with safety vendors to help with ongoing compliance and support
  • · Ensure Emergency Action Plans are operational and communicated to all employees.
  • · Other safety duties as assigned by management.
  • Qualifications
  • · Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety or related field required, or equivalent years of experience required. Equivalent years of experience is defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested
  • · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
  • · Experience in a warehouse or distribution environments preferred
  • · Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • · Proficient in developing and facilitating effective training presentations
  • · Detailed oriented in safety with the ability to adhere to tight and overlapping deadlines, with emphasis on project, time, and resource management
  • · Strong interpersonal skills and a professional presence
  • · Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision
  • · Ability to function as an effective team member
  • · Demonstrate integrity and a strong level of confidentiality

Travel Requirements

  • This position is not expected to travel
