Position Overview:

The Director of Operations and Compliance is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a small, private neurosurgical practice while ensuring full compliance with all healthcare regulations. This role will manage administrative functions, operational processes, and quality assurance initiatives, ensuring that the practice runs smoothly and efficiently while adhering to all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in healthcare management, with a strong understanding of compliance in a medical practice setting.

Key Responsibilities:Operations Management:
  • Oversee the daily administrative and operational functions of the practice, ensuring all processes run efficiently.
  • Manage scheduling, patient flow, and clinic operations to optimize resource utilization and enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Work closely with surgeons, physician assistants, and support staff to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and streamline practice workflows.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and practice owner to set strategic goals and implement growth initiatives.


Compliance Management:
  • Ensure the practice remains compliant with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and CMS guidelines.
  • Develop and implement compliance protocols and ensure all staff are trained on regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular internal audits to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Oversee the credentialing and re-credentialing processes for providers and ensure compliance with payer requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and best practices, adjusting policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage any inspections, audits, or investigations.


Team Leadership:
  • Work directly with practice manager to help supervise administrative staff and provide leadership and support to ensure a positive and productive working environment.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for staff, ensuring that everyone is aligned with the practice’s mission and compliance obligations.


Patient Experience:
  • Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction by implementing and monitoring service quality standards.
  • Address patient complaints and feedback, developing strategies for continuous improvement in service delivery.


Technology and Systems Management:
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data security and HIPAA compliance in all technological systems.
  • Use of technology to provide data analytics insights regarding quality and compliance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare management, preferably in a private practice setting.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements (HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, etc.).
  • Proven track record of successfully managing operations and improving efficiency in a healthcare practice.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Experience with data analytics
  • Strong understanding of Florida healthcare compliance laws
  • Proficiency with healthcare technology systems (EMR/EHR, practice management software).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a neurosurgical, orthopedic, or specialized surgical practice.
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle management and insurance billing processes.
  • Certification in healthcare compliance (CHC) or similar credential is a plus.
