Description:

The Production Engineer monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes operating unit key process variables to drive process and product improvements, while maintaining a strong safety and environmental compliance focus.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and Implement systems to improve and sustain value in the areas of health, safety, environment, production rates, equipment reliability, cost and quality.
  • Apply technical knowledge to detect causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption.
  • Participate and/or lead Reliability Improvement team and sub-groups.
  • Develop initial scope and business case for in-plant changes and improvement projects.
  • Develop, modify, and/or review operational procedures, including commissioning and start-up procedures for new equipment.
  • Lead root cause discovery studies to resolve plant process and equipment related issues.
  • Specify process conditions needed to produce new or modified products, in conjunction with the Quality representative.
  • Assists and/or leads in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints and nonconforming products.
  • Help coordinate and plan special product trials.
  • Flexibility to work additional unscheduled hours if needed (including weekends and holidays), given advanced notice.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 0-5 years professional work experience.
  • Possess skills to be able to contribute in a team environment and establish work relationships with onsite and offsite functional groups to achieve results.
  • Self-motivated, and results oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communications, as well as computer skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in polymer processes preferred.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
