Title: Scientist – Antibody Engineering & Characterization Location: Pleasanton, CA Type: Full Time, Onsite About the Role We are hiring a Scientist to join our Pathology Biology & Integrated Analytics group in Pleasanton, CA. This role focuses on monoclonal antibody development for in‑vitro diagnostics and companion diagnostics applications. You will drive molecular cloning, mammalian cell expression, purification, and characterization workflows while collaborating cross‑functionally to accelerate innovation in clinical diagnostics. Key Responsibilities Execute antibody development, engineering, production, and characterization activities end‑to‑end. Independently plan and manage small to mid‑scale R&D projects with measurable deliverables. Analyze, document, and present research results to scientific and non‑scientific stakeholders. Troubleshoot experimental challenges and proactively identify opportunities for workflow improvement. Collaborate closely across R&D teams and partner sites to achieve functional milestones. Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and data integrity standards. Required Qualifications Hands‑on experience in monoclonal antibody development and antibody engineering. Strong molecular cloning expertise including PCR, restriction/ligation, and Gibson Assembly. Skilled in mammalian transient expression systems such as HEK293 and CHO. Proven track record with antibody purification and analytical techniques including FPLC, HPLC, ELISA, SDS‑PAGE, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Familiarity with antibody sequence analysis and domain knowledge in oncology, immunology, or protein chemistry. Outstanding communication, organizational strength, and the agility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with computational structural tools such as PyMOL or VMD. Ability to interpret structural files (PDB) and correlate findings with experimental performance. Knowledge of biophysical characterization methods such as DSC and DLS. Exposure to protein engineering for epitope optimization and stability enhancements. Understanding of formulation and stability testing principles for antibody products.
