Seton Hall University invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Latino/a Studies, beginning in August 2026. The position is interdisciplinary and open to candidates in the humanities, with a preference for scholars from the social sciences. Duties And Responsibilities Appointed as an assistant professor in one of the departments within the College of Arts and Sciences, with potential home departments including Political Science and Public Affairs; Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice; and Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Taught a 9‑credit load (three courses) per semester in person on the South Orange campus, typically split between undergraduate courses at different levels in the home department and Latino/a Studies courses. Maintain an active research agenda in Latino/a Studies with consistent publications and grant submissions appropriate to the field. Work with the Director of the Latin American and Latino/a Studies program to build the program’s curriculum, participate in student‑recruitment events, and strengthen community connections. Regularly teach an introductory Latino/a Studies course and upper‑level courses that support the undergraduate program. Required Qualifications A Ph.D. in Latino/a/x Studies, or a relevant field in the Humanities or Social Sciences. Demonstrated scholarly potential. Commitment to teaching excellence. Strong communication skills. A strong commitment to multicultural education and inclusivity. Desired Qualifications It is preferred that applicants have a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree by the time of appointment.
