Essential Job Functions Oversees the dispatch of buses for regular education and special education. Coordinates transportation for extracurricular and field trips. Monitors fleet availability and adjusts routes or staffing as needed. Manages GPS data, camera systems, and telematics to ensure all are functioning and used effectively. Communicates effectively with parents, administrators, and staff. Optimizes bus routes through daily on?time performance metrics and GPS utilization. Analyzes ridership data to recommend route consolidation or expansion. Supports drivers with student behavior issues by providing guidance and intervention strategies. Promotes a positive work culture built on accountability, teamwork, and customer service. Ensures continuity of leadership and services during Executive Directors absence. Communication and Customer Service Creates a positive and predictable school bus experience for students, parents, and school staff with safety and on?time performance being of paramount importance. Manages routes to be on?time and consistently following the planned schedule. Develops a culture of excellence where all interactions, whether with a student, parent, or school administrator, are conducted with patience, professionalism, and a people?first attitude. Ensures rigorous safety standards, well?maintained vehicles, and drivers trained to prioritize student safety above all else. Responds promptly and professionally to complaints, inquiries, and service concerns. Provides clear, accurate, and timely information about routes, delays, policy changes, and service disruptions. Conducts community outreach to improve public understanding of transportation procedures and safety. Administrative Responsibilities Develops, reviews, and updates job descriptions for transportation personnel; oversees filling of vacancies in a timely manner; conducts interviews, completes selection process, and coordinates onboarding and training of new hires among Transportation teams. Safety and Supervisory Responsibilities Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff and makes recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of District policies, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge of federal and state school transportation regulations. Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of computerized routing software. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Word). Mathematical and statistical calculation skills with accuracy. Organizing, analyzing, and summarizing complex data skills. Cost?benefit analysis skills using judgment and creativity. Organizational development, communications, public and interpersonal relations skills. Ability to train end?users in GPS software, fleet management tablets/devices, routing software, and video software. Discretionary handling of confidential information. On?site inspection of District transportation operations. Budget management and accurate reporting. Software access to databases, email, spreadsheet creation, and word processing. Effective oral and written communication, including presentations, reports, and memoranda. Self?evaluation for performance and professional growth. Cooperative working relationship establishment and maintenance. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Physical & Mental Demands Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals. Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Works in an office setting; occasionally irregular and/or prolonged hours. Regular punctual attendance required. Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions. Minimum Required Qualifications Education: Accredited high school diploma, GED, or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency required; Bachelors degree from accredited college or university preferred. Certification/License: Clear and valid Texas Commercial Drivers License (Class B) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements required; Insurable by the District's insurance carrier required; Texas Association for Pupil Transportation Certification preferred. Experience: 7?10 years experience in transportation in a comparable environment required. Preferred Experience Experience utilizing and training end?users in GPS software, fleet management tablets/devices, routing software, and video software. Experience with routing and scheduling (dispatching), driver training, accident investigation, inventory control, and preparation of bus specifications. Experience with logistics: detailed organization/implementation of complex operations. Language Skills Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Insurability Requirements for All Drivers At least 21 years old. No positive drug or alcohol tests including pre?employment, random, post?accident or reasonable suspicion. Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Driver Record Check type 3A; no more than 2 violations during previous 36 months (including moving traffic violations, proof of license or insurance, equipment violations). No DUI, no leaving scene of an accident, no vehicular assault, no operating a vehicle with suspended or revoked license, no reckless driving, no speeding more than 20 mph over posted limit, and no operating a vehicle without owners permission.
