Role Summary / Purpose This VP, Analytics role will be a critical member of the team. The role reports directly to the SVP, Analytics Leader and is responsible for supporting end‑to‑end analytics delivery for the portfolio. The individual designs strategic analytics initiatives, develops roadmaps with milestones, creates analytical frameworks, and manages seamless project execution. Additional responsibilities include building strong relationships with clients and cross‑functional stakeholders, influencing through data‑driven storytelling, and collaborating across Synchrony analytics teams to implement scalable analytical solutions and best practices. Occasionally you may need to commute to a nearby office for in‑person engagement activities such as team meetings, training, or culture events. Essential Responsibilities Develop decision‑optimization agenda with the Analytics Leader to drive profitable growth for the program, including analytics strategies, roadmaps, and execution of multiple projects. Partner with growth teams to establish learning agendas, develop omni‑channel marketing strategies, and design advanced analytics methods (e.g., machine learning) and frameworks to optimize impact. Lead the creation and execution of a data‑driven customer engagement strategy by analyzing customer journeys, measuring and attributing impact of experiences, and delivering actionable recommendations to drive incremental engagement, card sales, and profitability. Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to design, A/B‑test, and optimize diverse marketing tactics and customer experiences, fostering experimentation and continuous improvement. Leverage data streaming and near‑real‑time analytics methods to rapidly iterate and deliver insights on card usage and customer engagement trends. Build trust with clients as an analytics advocate, establishing strong relationships and operating rhythm with cross‑functional teams. Show leadership in using a variety of data sources—including proprietary Synchrony data, client data, and third‑party data—to recommend business actions that improve customer experience and drive incremental program economics. Be a leader in influencing business actions with data‑driven storytelling and by advocating data‑driven decision‑making that optimizes program profitability and client revenue growth. Collaborate with analytics CoE’s to share Synchrony analytics capabilities stories with stakeholders, clients, and influence activation. Develop expertise on cross‑functional KPIs and their drivers, conduct portfolio diagnostics, and establish performance review rhythm to grow the program and drive efficiencies. Establish effective project management operating rhythms with stakeholders, clients, and team members. Partner with offshore analysts to ensure high‑quality execution and delivery of analytics, measurement, and reporting projects. Drive productivity and actionability of foundational reporting & measurement analytics using structured/curated datasets, on‑demand reporting portal, actionable reports, and scalable campaign measurement tools. Act as a trusted advisor to solve complex business problems and provide actionable recommendations based upon data‑driven insights. Deliver hands‑on analytics projects and perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned. Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or a high school diploma with 9+ years of experience establishing and managing marketing analytics in the financial services, credit card, and/or payments industry. 5+ years of experience using tools such as SAS, SQL, Tableau, or similar data querying and analysis tools. A minimum of 7+ years of work experience including: 5+ years using statistical analysis methods and data warehouse tools. 3+ years’ experience within the financial services, credit card payments, or retail/Consumer Packaged Goods industry. 3+ years leading large‑scale analytics projects. 3+ years of client‑facing experience. Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required. Desired Characteristics Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or any quantitative field. Advanced degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with Systems and Marketing specialization strongly preferred. Experience in digital analytics and digital wallets. Ability to partner with managers, senior leaders, and cross‑functional stakeholders to establish analytics goals and execution roadmaps. Strong understanding of KPI’s and ability to tell effective stories connecting KPI trends to business drivers, including building strategies to onboard, activate, engage & retain customers and using machine learning algorithms. Proven hands‑on experience utilizing analytical tools such as SAS, SQL, R, or Python. Experience with big data tools like Databricks, AWS Redshift, and SageMaker is a differentiator. Advanced Tableau dashboarding skills and experience using AI capabilities strongly preferred; Advanced skills using Excel and PowerPoint also preferred. Strong marketing, creative and analytical skills; experience with retail or credit card products preferred. Ability to influence senior corporate decision makers with executive presence and data‑driven storytelling skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Intellectually curious with the ability to innovate and identify creative solutions to business goals. Ability to effectively delegate projects, negotiate, and coach junior team members. Proven ability to work independently and contribute to a broader team. Salary Range Grade/Level: 12Salary: $135,000 – $230,000 USD annually. Eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle. Eligibility Requirements You must be 18 years or older. You must have a high school diploma or equivalent. You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation, and provide fingerprints as part of the onboarding process. You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act. New hires (Level 4‑7) must have 9 months of continuous service before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non‑exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from their manager to post (or the approval of both manager and HR if they don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
