We are seeking a skilled, highly motivated Chief Engineer for our Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Kansas City Crossroads hotel. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the hotel and equipment run smoothly. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a small facilities team while still being able to roll your sleeves up and utilize your abilities to fix a problem on your own. What You’ll Do Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctioning electrical/mechanical systems and equipment. Reviewing maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work assignments. Monitoring and inspecting assigned work. Inspecting property to identify potential and current needs. Planning and executing on‑going appropriate maintenance programs. Servicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters. Estimating department expenditures for budget purposes and assisting with the capital budget process. Soliciting bids from contractors, evaluating their proposals, and ensuring work is completed to specifications. Recruit, mentor, train, and support facilities staff. Coordinating with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Performing preventive maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis. Maintaining the building exterior if not serviced by a contractor (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting). Listening and responding to guests’ requests or complaints. Education And Experience 3 years in a maintenance role, that required the troubleshooting and repairing of various systems and equipment such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems preferred. Valid Driver’s License. Ability to encourage co‑workers to perform their best work in a positive and respectful manner. Self‑directed and ability to work independently.
