Do you have a passion for supporting youth's mental health? So do we, join our Ventura COMPASS Program as a Crisis Clinician
The Crisis Clinician is a crucial part of our multidisciplinary team that guides the treatment of adolescents in our program. The Crisis Clinician assesses youth when they arrive at the program, develops individualized treatment plans, provides individual and family therapy, and supports youth in their stabilization to return home. Responsibilities also include assigning targeted curriculum, coordination of care with program psychiatrist, case management with youth's outpatient mental health providers, case presentations at weekly treatment team meetings, safety planning, and Medi-Cal documentation. The Crisis Clinician may also provide crisis intervention, assist in the self-administration of medication for youth, and collaborate with staff on youth transferring from our Crisis Stabilization Unit. Our multidisciplinary team consists of program directors, a program psychiatrist, registered nurses, mental health counselors, and program supervisors. The ideal candidate would be engaging, highly adaptive, quick to develop rapport with vulnerable youth and their families, comfortable in a fast-paced environment in which multi-tasking is essential, confident in providing guidance to the mental health counselors, skilled in collaborating with staff of other disciplines, and be able to operate independently as the primary clinician in the program.
ABOUT VENTURA COUNTY COMPASS
COMPASS (Comprehensive Assessment and Stabilization Services) is a short-term residential program, 2-4 weeks in length, designed to support youth in crisis when there are concerns for immediate safety. COMPASS is an intentionally small program, serving just 2 youth at a time. We pride ourselves on providing highly individualized, comprehensive mental health and wellness services to adolescents ages 12-17 with Ventura County MediCal. We provide youth an immersive therapy experience with both individual and family sessions, daily groups to develop coping strategies, and 1:1 staff to client ratio for safety. Youth meet with our mental health counselors for therapeutic groups throughout the day in which we focus on development of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy coping skills and wellness education. Youth also meet with our program psychiatrist for assessment and medication management. Referrals to our program come from our Crisis Stabilization Unit (co-located in the same building) and from outpatient providers at Ventura County Behavioral Health. Since inception in 2017, we have served about 200 youth and their families. We work collaboratively to ensure youth return to the community with the necessary skills to avoid future crises and find a life worth living. This unique program is changing how mental health services are offered to adolescents in Ventura County.
