We are constantly searching for high-impact individuals in various clinical, technical and business operations domains to strengthen our team of patient-centric, intelligent individuals.The Vice President, Programs and Portfolio Office (PPO) will play a critical leadership role in driving strategic alignment, operational excellence, and execution discipline across MindMed’s portfolio of clinical and research programs. This individual will oversee the integrated program management function and ensure that portfolio decisions are data-driven, risk-aware, and aligned with corporate goals.As a member of the R&D leadership team, the VP, PPO will partner closely with the CEO, CMO, CFO, asset strategy leads, and functional heads to set priorities, track and anticipate resource allocation, and guide teams toward successful outcomes across all stages of development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead portfolio planning and prioritization to align R&D investments with corporate strategy and value creationOversee governance processes, including portfolio reviews and decision-making forumsDevelop frameworks for scenario planning, risk management, and budget optimizationBuild and lead a high-performing program management team responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all development programs (preclinical through late-stage)Ensure cross-functional alignment, transparency, and accountability across clinical, regulatory, CMC, and commercial readiness functionsOversee integrated project plans, timelines, milestones, and budgetsInterface with key external partners to integrate external project management with our internal cross-functional teamsOperational and Organizational LeadershipEstablish best practices, tools, and templates for program governance, reporting, and performance trackingServe as a key interface between scientific/clinical teams and executive leadership to ensure timely, informed decision-makingDrive continuous improvement and a culture of collaboration, agility, and excellenceExecutive and Board EngagementProvide regular program and portfolio updates to executive leadership and the Board of DirectorsPartner with Finance and Strategy functions on long-range planning and external communicationsQualificationsAdvanced degree in life sciences, medicine, or related field (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.S.) strongly preferred15+ years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical program and portfolio management, including leadership of late-stage clinical programsProven track record in leading cross-functional development teams and managing complex program portfoliosDeep understanding of the drug development process, from IND through NDA and commercializationExceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to thrive in a dynamic, fast-growing environment where hands‑on leadership is requiredThe starting base pay range for this position is $271,021.00 - $330,000.00. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.Employees in this role may be entitled to additional compensation, including bonus and equity.
