Job Description Summary The Senior Principal Engineer (SPE) for Intelligent Systems will be a technical expert and leader responsible for guiding research, innovation, strategy, and technology transfer in autonomous systems, robotics, and automation for aerospace and defense. The candidate will apply primary and secondary technologies to drive innovation and execution. Job Summary Drive roadmap, strategy, development, and execution of Intelligent Systems research with a focus on transitioning technologies to solutions leverageable by GE Aerospace businesses. This includes systems and capabilities employing: Simulation and Digital Twins Sensors and Perception Artificial Intelligence (AI) Machine Learning (ML) Computer Vision Mapping and Localization Actuators and Control Systems Identify long‑term technical challenges and growth opportunities, collaborate across disciplines, lead major programs with key business units or government agencies, drive new opportunities with DARPA and AFRL, serve as a technical resource, shape competencies, develop networks, and coordinate visitors. Qualifications / Requirements Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related fields. 10+ years of professional experience, including computational modeling techniques for manufacturing processes. 7+ years of experience leading teams or projects. Deep domain knowledge in Intelligent Systems, including autonomy, security, and embedded systems for aerospace. Proven ability to understand customer needs and industry trends to guide strategy. Experience leading large research teams and reporting to executive‑level leaders. Track record of influencing and working with government funding agencies. U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Security Clearance (SECRET required). Must be willing to work onsite in Niskayuna, NY. Desired Qualifications Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related fields. 15+ years of professional experience, including system‑level understanding and technical development. Experience in collaborative systems, edge computing, and cybersecurity. Strong external network and international reputation. Peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations. Ability to manage risk and uncertainty. TS/SCI clearance preferred. Base pay range: 150,000 – 275,000 USD annually. Position eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of base salary. Posting expected to close on November 28, 2025.
