Job Responsibilities:

Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative care, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon

Clinic Tasks:

  • Ensure that patient has a follow-up appointment scheduled with provider
  • Discussing treatment schedule with patient
  • Open up next cycle in Cerner - adjust doses as needed
  • Address any concerning labs with provider on TH
  • Coordinate all consults related to chemotherapy such as endocrine, ECHOS, cardiology
  • Check to make sure insurance authorization is still valid within Cerner
  • Assist as needed in chemotherapy education if Jasmine is unavailable to be on telehealth visit
  • Opening Cerner chart
  • Placing orders in Cerner
  • Creating consent
  • Place order for port placement (if necessary) and other consults if needed such as ECHOs
  • Send a message through message center on Cerner to Leslie Lochner (Coord-Medication Access) asking if the medication will be approved with patient insurance and where to send the script
    • If patient's co-pay will be too high through insurance, insurance dept helps to find funds for patient and/or helps patient apply for free drug
  • Look up script through Cerner, send in the PARPi script under the ordering provider
  • Place the regimen order
  • Ensure patient has lab appointments scheduled per protocol
  • coordinate labs if required 
  • Follow-up with patient to ensure medication
  • Chart which pharmacy patient uses and if there is any co-pay assistance needed or free drug in patient EPIC chart
  • Send email to an admission list with the patients that will be admitted to 6S for the week
    • Present on chemo education visits to introduce self and educate on port placement
    • Send in all pre/post medications for chemotherapy within EPIC
    • Coordinate new starts for chemo/immunotherapy:
    • Present on PARPi education TH visits
    • Coordinate new starts for PARPi:
    • Coordinate admissions for inpatient chemotherapy
    • Placing consults in Cerner for Nutrition
